Suno Na: Creating Safe Spaces for Mental Health Conversation

About the Event

On 27 April 2024, The Mind Diaries hosted Suno Na, a curated open-mic evening at TOT Studio, Lajpat Nagar, designed to create a safe, inclusive space for honest conversations around mental health. Through poetry, storytelling, and music, the event encouraged individuals to speak openly about experiences often silenced by stigma.

The Experience

Participants shared deeply personal narratives addressing anxiety, grief, self-worth, family pressures, and resilience. The evening opened with a powerful performance by Sonal Gupta, whose piece “Mental health par baat nahi hogi” highlighted the consequences of silence and the urgent need for dialogue. The programme was sensitively anchored by Taruni Kumar, ensuring emotional safety and continuity throughout the evening.

A Glimpse into the Event

    Beyond the Mic

Creative engagement played a key role in fostering connection. Live caricatures by Bhupinder Singh Bagga added warmth and approachability, while a flute performance by P.K. Kashyap provided moments of calm and grounding.

    The Impact

Events like Suno Na demonstrate the impact of community-based mental health initiatives. By supporting such programmes, donors enable accessible, stigma-free platforms where individuals feel heard, validated, and less alone – often taking the first step towards healing.
