On 21 September 2024, The Mind Diaries hosted two immersive workshops that used creativity as a pathway to emotional healing, self-reflection, and connection. Designed as accessible mental well-being interventions, the sessions brought participants into a calm, supportive space where art and storytelling became tools for resilience.
The day began with a Kintsugi and Mindfulness workshop led by mixed-media artist Swapna Gopinathan. Rooted in the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold, Kintsugi offered participants a powerful metaphor for healing – acknowledging fractures while honouring strength and renewal. The slow, hands-on process encouraged presence, emotional regulation, and self-acceptance. Participants left not only with restored ceramics, but with a tangible reminder that healing does not mean erasing scars – it means embracing them.
As evening approached, acclaimed storyteller Vijay Kakwani led a Storytelling Workshop focused on voice, agency, and self-expression. Drawing from his own journey, he demonstrated how lived experiences can be transformed into meaningful narratives. Through guided exercises, participants learned to shape personal fragments into stories that connect, validate, and empower.
Workshops like these demonstrate how creative practices can support mental well-being in gentle, inclusive ways.
Fundraising support allows us to scale up such programmes, reaching more individuals with safe, restorative spaces where creativity becomes a first step towards healing and connection.
