Baithak | Music for Mental Well-Being

About the Event

Baithak was the first in a series of intimate gatherings envisioned by The Well-Being Trust and The Mind Diaries, and certainly not the last.

Held on the evening of 13 December 2025, Baithak brought together over 55 participants for a slow, unhurried musical experience designed to support emotional well-being through presence, sound, and shared stillness.

As the winter sun softened the space at Green Park, attendees settled in for what felt less like a performance and more like a collective pause from everyday noise — a reminder of music’s quiet ability to hold emotion without explanation.

The Experience

At the heart of the evening was vocalist Abhilasha Ojha, whose expressive voice carried themes of longing, hope, and comfort, creating moments of deep collective stillness.

She was joined by:

  • Shivam on guitar, setting a reflective tone
  • Fazal Dholpuri on tabla
  • Tanish Dholpuri on sarangi
  • Deepak on flute
  • Jatin on nuanced percussion

Together, the ensemble created a soundscape that invited listeners to slow down, breathe, and feel, without instruction or urgency.

Baithak was not positioned as a concert, but as an experience of emotional care, where music became a shared language for release and reflection.

A Glimpse into the Event

    Beyond the Music

The evening concluded with lovingly baked cakes by Jennifer Bakes, adding warmth to the closing moments.

A special charm was added by The Well-Being Trust Bazaar, which showcased hand-knitted and crocheted woollens and knick-knacks created by a self-help group of women from Uttarakhand, extending the spirit of care, community, and support beyond the performance itself.

    The Impact

Baithak reaffirmed a simple but powerful truth:

When shared with intention, music can become a gentle, accessible form of emotional well-being support.

    The evening strengthened:

    • A sense of collective calm and connection
    • Appreciation for non-verbal, non-clinical forms of emotional care
    • The Trust’s commitment to creating safe, inclusive, community-led wellbeing spaces

Baithak marked the beginning of an ongoing series of conversations and experiences centred on presence, listening, and emotional safety.
